About Wordpress
Each
day more and more people are finding
Wordpress is a perfect solution not just
for blogging, but also for managing
business websites as well.
Wordpress is an open source content
management system that allows people
with basic computer skills to manage
their website without the purchase of
additional software or having to learn
complex coding.
I am
happy to use my experience with
Wordpress to help you get up and
running. We can host Wordpress
websites and help you through the
process of setting it up as well as help
you find or customize templates, add
work with you to learn how to manage
your website once it's up.
For
clients who are already using Wordpress
I will work on putting some tutorials up
as well as some links that will help you
learn more and find all that fun stuff
that makes Wordpress an enjoyable way to

The "Wordpress" Vernacular
Here
are some words you will hear when
talking about wordpress and what they
mean. . .

Theme - a template that
decides what your website will look
like. Themes can be downloaded
(many free for non-commercial use)
and they can be created from
scratch.

Widget - Widgets are things
that all all sorts of functionality
to your website and usually display
in the sidebar of your Wordpress
Website. Widgets can help you
organize your menus, display
pictures, show your weather, events
calendars and hundreds of other
things. Using a widget is
usually as simple as installing it
and sliding it into your sidebar.

Plug-Ins - Plug_ins can be
widgets, but they can be much more.
Plug-ins are another way to add
funtions to your site. You can
also use them to enhance your
editor, add photo galleries, and
much more. Many plug-ins are
available free from the Wordpress
website as well.

Blog - Hopefully you know by
now what a blog is. A blog is
just a simple way to publish content
to the web. Wordpress started
out as a blogging platform. (A way
to run your blog) but creative
people using this open source system
have found many ways to expand
wordpress to manage larger websites
as well.
